Unified Planning Work Program

The UPWP is the document which outlines the responsibilities and work assignments for the Lawrence/Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Department each year. Everything the department does, from coordination of corridor and long-range studies, to public transit implementation, to day-to-day affairs. This document is designed to hold the department accountable, fiscally and professionally, the citizens of Lawrence/Douglas County and the regulatory agencies which supply planning funds. The UPWP is a public document, and is approved every year by the MPO (Planning Commission)

The UPWP, as required by federal regulations, contains planning work expected to be carried out by all agencies and organizations within the Lawrence and Douglas County metro area.
